SURFMAYO
SURFMAYO (1998) was the first surf school to be established in County Mayo, and even one of the first surf hire companies to set up in Ireland. It is located at the beautiful beach of Carrowniskey Strand in Louisburgh which can be found on the Wild Atlantic Way. Ever since SURFMAYO was established, it has been an ISA (Irish Surfing Association) approved surf school that abides to specific standards that are evaluated on a yearly basis. SURFMAYO is the closest and most experienced surf school to the popular destinations of Louisburgh and Westport. Furthermore, it is locally owned and run by surfers with 20+ years of experience surfing around the West Coast of Ireland. Join us this summer for a surf experience you will never forget!
Summer Surf Camp
We teach children from the age of 7 to 16. As well as learning to surf or improving surfing skills, our camp has an atmosphere where everyone can have a great time while staying safe in the water.

Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a surfer who is in need of some professional guidance this session is for you. Within our basic surf lesson we aim to give each person the solid foundation that they will need to develop as a surfer.

Me and my fiancee had a two-session private intro to surfing with Charles at beautiful Carrowinski beach during our stay in Ireland in April. He is an excellent surf instructor that teaches you the basics before letting you advance to the next level, which helped us a lot. He gives clear advice on what to focus on as well as honest feedback about what could be improved. Everything was really well organised and prepared. I highly recommend lessons with the Surf Mayo team!

Great afternoon of surfing! The setting and supervisors were really nice. In two hours, we had the necessary explanations to have fun quickly.

Charles and Elvis were so helpful and went out of their way to make sure we could hire what we needed and get a surf in on our very short trip to Westport. We really appreciated it and had a great surf!

Elvis and the team are fantastic! I was a complete beginner and after an hour I was up and flying around. Definitely get the lessons too, way better than trying to wing it. Really great value! Will be going back as soon as i can

Myself and my little ones (aged 7 & 10) had a wonderful couple of days at Surf Mayo. The location is stunning & Elvis & Charles were absolutely amazing teachers - their tips and time spent teaching the children helped my little ones become confident and over the moon with their ability to surf! We’ve definitely got the bug for surfing due to the passion & patience of both Elvis & Charles. We will be back and highly recommend this wonderful surf school. Thank you!
